(and you don't even want to know the number of Tupperware bins in the attic)
I mean, I'm from a state that has 4 seasons! I have something for every temperature. But I've realized I have two weak spots. Jeans and Workout clothes. I have one too many of each of these that I may need therapy. I can not part with any of them! I managed to put 4, only 4 of these items in the donate bag. 4. It's as bad as the man who owns 4 drawer-fulls of T-Shirts but only wears 5 of them... ;)
A girls gotta have...
the jeans for in case you gain 5 pounds.
the jeans for in case you loose 5 pounds.
the jeans for when you feel bloated, like you gained 20 pounds.
the faded jeans, the dark jeans, the ones that never go in the dryer.
the jeans for heels, jeans for flats and skinny jeans for knee boots.
and I repeat, I'm not getting rid of my favorite pair that require a 5 pound loss and I'm not donating my awesome jeans for the day I gain back 10+ pounds. So silly, right?! Somewhere during pregnancy and sometime after pregnancy my sizes were ALL OVER the place.
Then there's jean skirts. Do people wear those anymore? Maybe I should just keep one, one in case you know, people still wear them. And Jorts?! Yea, no. I don't wear Jorts. Or cellphone belt clips.
But, cut offs! Yes, I love, love cut offs. Cut offs are not jorts at least not mine. I could live my entire life in a pair of cutoffs. This collection runs as deep as the pile of jeans. Daisy style, yes. Momma style, yes. Bermuda/Boyfriend style, double yes. And I decided on two pairs of worn jeans that may join the collection of cut offs, once I find the scissors. I can't help it. I told you I might need a leeeetle help here.
My other weak spot.... work out clothes. I'm a sucker for anything made to sweat in.
Shiiiiit. If I could I would wear workout clothes for my entire life. Well, during the times I wasn't wearing jeans. You have no idea how hard it is for me to pick which jeans/cut-offs and which workout outfits to keep (while between homes) for the next 5-6 weeks!! ha! It drives me crazy. And this is just the tip. Next I need shirts and then shoes. Thank God we're not flying. Imagine the added worry of how heavy my suitcase is...
Tell me I'm not alone in this mess of clothes!!!
How many "perfect" pairs of jeans do you own?
What's your weak spot? Anything you can't part with?

I am definitely the same way with workout clothes! Not so much with jeans... I probably only have 5 pairs of those. But I have workout clothes for days.... there are so many options and a lot of them are too cute to pass up. Yes I would live in them too, if I could.
ReplyDeleteSo if I show up at your house before you move and your clothes go missing..it was not me..just saying!
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain! We're all moved in, everything is unpacked... except my clothes. I just keep finding boxes & boxes of them! I had to get rid of a dresser in the move too, so that's complicating things! My jeans & workout clothes take up many a drawer. AND I have a sweater problem! Living in Upstate NY, I wear them often & they aren't cheap - I just can't bare to part with them!
ReplyDeleteYou are NOT alone! My closets and dressers are full of jean I haven't worn in 5 years and shirts that I may have to squeeze a little too much to actually fit in.. therefore haven't been worn in 5 years. But there is something about giving them up that I am uncomfortable with. But you know what I told my boyfriend when he complained?.. "Embrace it, I could be that girl that wears the same jeans, flip flops, and sweatshirt every day.. and no one wants that."
ReplyDeleteOk I laughed out loud at this post because I SERIOUSLY can relate - except my weakness is with jeans and skirts... seriously- everything that you said in relation to the jeans in this post is me with these two articles of clothing. What in the world!? hahaha... I admit it... I currently have TEN pairs of jeans that I brought with me to New York... and that is not counting the ones that are awaiting my arrival at the end of the summer in the south. Can I justify it at all by stating that 1/2 of them are thrift store finds??! :) Love ya girl!! Hope the packing is going smoothly :)

I am the same way. Once I clean out my drawers my donate pile has to go ASAP otherwise I will start to drag things back into my closet thinking that I might wear them again.
ReplyDeleteOn the bright side, cleaning out feels kinda good. :) Hope it is going well!
You HAVE to read my blog post from today! We're on the same level in that I just posted about my go-to outfits and how I have WAY too many workout clothes! That, and take a look at my array of clothing options. I think between the two of us, we could open a store and make millions off of our closet :)
ReplyDeleteOh girl!! You are NOT alone...you should see all my jeans too....and my closet in general...it's a massive train wreck...
ReplyDeleteI am sooo with you on the jeans... I think it stems from the fact that I used to work retail, but I probably have thirty five + pairs. I'm in the process of packing for a move, too, and I just. can't. part. with any of them!
ReplyDeleteWorkout clothes, though, I definitely do not own many of. I know they say that cute workout clothes inspire you to actually work out, but I just can never justify buying them when I have so many random tees I never wear that work just fine!
Girl, you are not alone!! I have the hardest time getting rid of my own clothes. I don't have any problems putting Shaun's stuff into the 'donate' bad, but I have the hardest time parting with my own. I am also from a state that has four seasons and now that I am living in one with pretty much only two (hot and slightly less hot), I have bins of sweaters, hoodies, and jeans that I hardly ever wear.
ReplyDeleteNo wonder you look so darn cute all the time ;) love the workout clothes!!
ReplyDeleteGirl, I am in the same boat as you! I'm terrible at deciding what to keep/throw out. We're having a combined garage sale with my MIL later this summer so I boxed up all of my clothes that were too big to sell.. now that I'm pregnant, I'm rethinking selling any of it because I can start re-wearing them again in a few short months (God, I'm cheap..)!
ReplyDeleteI need regularly forced purging sessions too! I only wear one pair of jeans but have multiple stacks in my closet. You are so right!
ReplyDeleteI am guilty of those same two collections!
ReplyDeleteAnd my jean collection turned into a whole new monster with the appearance of colored denim last season.
If you find an intervention, let me know. I need to jump in on it!

I must confess, I'm jealous you have room for 25+ pairs of jeans! Living in an apartment makes it a necessity to go through my closet every season to get rid of clothes just so I'm able to buy more!
ReplyDeleteYou are not alone! I hang onto way more then I should hence a packed closet even though it's a good size. I have jean skirts too! I don't wear them but I can't get rid of them. what is a jort??
ReplyDeleteOh honey, I am right there with you! Honestly, when I go shopping, I spend the majority of my time in the stores that are selling workout apparel! I love anything bright and with a fun pattern...it makes working out so much more fun and actually excited to go to the gym!! So don't be discouraged...I have the same problem ;)
ReplyDeleteI totally agree about loving the "moving purge" as I like to call it, during both packing and unpacking. I have a ton of jeans and workout clothes that I just can't part with!
ReplyDeleteGirl, you're totally fine! It sounds like I actually need to buy some more jeans because I don't have a pair for all of those occasions ;-)

A few months ago I made the switch to a capsule wardrobe and it's so, SO freeing. I do wish I had more than one pair of jeans, though.
ReplyDeleteOh my, I'm the same way!!! But what's wrong with jorts (those are jean shorts, right???).
ReplyDeleteI gained 25 lbs with each baby, but after my first never got back down to my original size, so I have all the size 5s and 7s from then... but after baby #2 she took all my weight and I'm down to size 0s and 1s... so now I have about 10-20 pairs of jeans and shorts ranging in size from 0 to 7, none of which I can part with.
And workout clothes?!? I feel ya there, too. I collect them like no other -- again, all different sizes, too... pre-pregnancy, pregnant, post-pregnant cray weightloss ;) So glad we're not AD and don't have to move that often. I don't know what I'd do if I had to possibly purge!
UGH! I haven't even started going through our house and we only have a month until the movers come. You're inspiring me. I need to get on that stat.
ReplyDeletelove it!

This is such a great post!! I have a closet full of I'll wear them when I loose weight and Just incase I gain weight clothes. I also have the same addiction with athletic clothes, I would wear them all day everyday if I could!
ReplyDeleteYou are definitely not alone! I am right there with you! Hey, a girl's gotta have options, right?
