We had a "Ball"

This years Army Ball was another success!
We enjoyed many a toast, applauded rewards, and caught up with friends we hadn't seen in awhile.
That's one of the wonderful things about the Army. You're given opportunities to make friends from all over. While you leave them after just a few years or only get a weekend to get to know them, they are your friends and a part of your Army story and when reunited, it's always so memorable.

The weekend of course had it's share of training. In fact, poor hubby trained right up to the last half hour before we were to leave the hotel for the ball. Thank God that 30 minute "get ready" restriction was on him and not me. It took me almost 30 minutes to secure two bobby pins in my hair! I've come to the conclusion that bobby pins don't like my fine hair. Anyways, he had a smile regardless of the time constraints and off we went...to wait on others who were late! que the motto: hurry up and wait.

I've never been one to say...'oh, a man in uniform'...was never that girl, but he has changed that!

My gowns of past years were of the classic kind, long and flowy, this one is no different! It always seems a safe bet to choose this style. Curves are beautiful but when picking which to show...always remember your smile is the best one. Especially when surrounded by like, ohhh, 300 men!

The Ball was held on post this year! Oh-Mee-Gosh. Seriously. These kind of changes make it obvious that the Army is making it's cuts wherever possible. So be it. I made cuts too. My dress was only 19.99.

The rest of our time was spent at the Marriott in Oyster's Point area. Gorgeous spot. Travel tip for military families...always check out the area's Marriott. We stayed in one in Columbia, SC over the summer, the discount they give to military families is more than generous and we've never been disappointed in their accommodations. Ever.

I'm sorry. I have way too much with Pic Monkey. Moving on....

Back to this past weekend instead of the photo bomb from the past summer.

We had training on Friday and the rest of the weekend's training was optional for spouses. For the first time in 4 years I did not participate in Saturday or Sundays training classes. A little shamed to say so, but I just felt the need to take advantage of being alone, sleeping in and staying out late. Somehow my husband can do all of this without the sleep in part. I can't. Plus the view from our hotel room was a nice change.

I should have packed my running shoes! The area had beautiful paths...meant for running.

When the guys weren't training...they were eating. Around the fountain pond was a spot we claimed for two nights. The Toby Keith Bar. I liked that bar. I know, lame cliche and annoying song. But that man supports the troops, we were welcomed there and the enlisted got dinner on the house.

Life really is what you make of it. And while there were moments during this weekend to cause panic or distress we didn't let any of that happen! We kept our smiles and enjoyed our time together. And our time with friends. We worried over the boys back at home and called Grandma frequently, she always said, 'everyone's fine'! Music to a worried mom and dads ear.

It's not often that we get away and like any day in our lives, we made the best of it!

P.S. I really, really appreciate everyone's comments on my other post! I was a bit nervous to bring all this into my blogspace...unsure of how many of you would enjoy it or appreciate it. I should of known better! You all are too fun :)
